ZLA Welcomes Demolition of Illegal Structures Built in Lusaka National Park

Zambia Land Alliance (ZLA) says it is elated with government’s move to demolish structures that were illegally built in the Lusaka National Park.

Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Alliance President Patrick Musole says the action has been long overdue.

Mr. Musole has since commended Ministry of Tourism’s Department of Wildlife and National Parks for taking a bold step, as it will serve as an example to other people who intend to do conduct illegal activities.

He has stressed the need for government to take the same measures in other areas where land has been encroached, including forest-27.

Mr. Musole has also emphasized the need to enforce the existing laws, stating that there is no point in coming up with the new policies when existing ones cannot be implemented and enforced.

On 14th and 15th September, 2024, Department of National Parks and Wildlife under Ministry of Tourism has demolished about 30 illegally built structures in the Lusaka National Park.
