Zambia To Participate At 1st UN Tourism Africa, Americas Summit in Dominican Republic

Zambia is expected to participate at the 1st United Nations (UN) Tourism Africa & Americas Summit in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

According to First Secretary Press and Public Relations, at the Zambian Embassy in Washington, D.C, Charles Tembo, Zambia will join other Member States of UN Tourism from the Americas and Africa, to reaffirm their strong commitment to promoting South-South cooperation through adoption of the Punta Cana Declaration.

Mr. Tembo reveals that Tourism Minister, Rodney Sikumba has since arrived in Dominican Republic leading the Zambian Delegation to the first UN Tourism Africa & Americas Summit, for the Commission of Americas and Commission for Africa (CAM-CAF) Joint meeting to take place in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from 2nd to 5th October, 2024.

He says in the framework of the Summit, Zambia will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Dominican Republic in the field of Tourism to strengthen bilateral relations and expand collaboration in the development and growth of the tourism economies for both countries.

Mr. Tembo adds that the Summit, which will be assembled in the context marked by global interconnection and cultural diversity, South-South cooperation between Africa and the Americans, stands out as a key factor for promoting sustainable development and achieving the 2030 Agenda.

The event has been convened under the theme Promoting South-South cooperation through investment, education, culture, creative industries and innovation.
