Zambia Motor Sport Association Secures K140, 000 Sponsorship Deal for Season-Ending Lusaka Rally
The Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) has secured a K140, 000 sponsorship deal from Auto Guard for the season-ending Lusaka rally to be hosted in Chisamba on 2nd and 3rd November 2024.
Speaking during the unveiling of Auto Guard as the headline sponsor, ZMSA President Sam Chigambu says the 2024 finale of the motor rally season is also going to be used to celebrate 60 years of existence of motorsport in Zambia.
Chigambu notes that there is a challenge in funding, especially for sports such as motor racing, adding that it is encouraging for the association and drivers to have sponsors like Auto Guard come on board to sponsor one of the biggest events of the season.
He also reveals that ZMSA is in talks with the Lusaka City Council (LCC), as it plans to use the ZESCO Flyover Bridge as part of the activities to mark the close of the season.
Meanwhile, Auto Guard Managing Director Vincent Lubinda says the firm’s zeal to sponsor the rally was driven by the support it continues from the competitors in the motor rally.
Lubinda says the sponsorship package has been broken down in two areas, with K80, 000 being in monetary form while K40, 000 will be channeled towards logistical support.
Heading into the final race, former African Rally champion Mohammed Essa is still in the race to be crowned Zambian champions for 2024 after dominating the Monze Rally.
Other strong contenders include 15-year-old Seth Gomes, Kyle Latife and Shabbir Amin.
