OYDC Zambia Board Chairperson Calls for More Support from Stakeholders

OYDC Zambia Board Chairperson Simangolwa Shakalima says there is a need to work on other facilities at the center in order to improve the state of facilities used by the athletes.

Speaking during a stakeholders meeting, Shakalima said OYDC Zambia has noted the need to work with more stakeholders for the betterment of improving the facilities available to the athletes from various sports fields.

Shakalima reminded stakeholders that the center was identified as the Center of Excellence in the region by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA); as such, OYDC Zambia is making strides to revamp some of its worn-out facilities.



And National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president Alfred Foloko, who was the guest of honour urged the attendees, mainly from the sports fraternity, to support OYDC by linking them with other international federations.

Foloko revealed that one of the key sponsors of the OYDC Zambia, Coen Teulings, Chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium, who supports the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge, is happy to note that the OYDC Zambia is reviving its swimming club working with the Zambia Swimming Union (ZASU).
Foloko also disclosed that the OYDC Zambia was in talks with Zambia Athletics and other partners to ensure that the running track is replaced.

The stakeholder’s meeting organized by the OYDC Zambia was attended by Zambia Athletics, Zambia Swimming Union, Zambia Hockey Association, Zambia Boxing Federation, Judo Association Zambia, Zambia Volleyball Association, Zambia Basketball Federation, Netball Zambia, Taekwondo Federation Zambia, Zambia Weightlifting Federation, Zambia Baseball and Softball Association, Badminton Zambia, and the and the National Sports Council of Zambia.
