Nalolo Council Pays Out Over K250,000 Under Cash for Work
Nalolo Town Council says it has paid out K258, 820 to 351 beneficiaries of the Cash for Work Programme.
Council Public Relations Officer, Buttyson Kandimba said of this amount, K110, 049 has been paid to 84 beneficiaries in Nalolo West Bank, while K118, 680 has been given to 217 people in Nalolo East Bank.
Mr. Kandimba stated that payments for August were made in September 2024 after the community projects that were identified to be done in various wards were thoroughly inspected and certified by officers from the local authority.
He however acknowledge the challenges encountered to process payments for beneficiaries especially those in the West Bank using mobile money but that this is being resolved with the mobile service provider.
“So far, a total of K30, 100 has been paid out to 50 beneficiaries using the ZAMTEL numbers and all the other beneficiaries will receive their money once the technical challenge is resolved.”
“We would like to urge all listed beneficiaries under the Cash For Work Programme who are using ZAMTEL numbers to remain calm as the issue is receiving adequate attention from both the Council and the network provider.”
“Key among the community projects that have been identified to be undertaken under the Cash For Work Programme in Nalolo District include clearing of canals, cleaning and expansion of public road infrastructure, as well as rehabilitation of mud and pole infrastructure at Public institutions, ” Mr. Kandimba.
The Cash For Work initiative is aimed at averting hunger in communities following the drought experienced in the 2023/2024 farming season.
