Council Terminates Contracts for Non-Performing Suppliers of School Desks

Lusaka City Council has terminated contracts for suppliers who have failed to deliver school desks on time under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Munali Constituency.

Speaking during the third Ordinary Council Meeting held in the Council Chamber today, Town Clerk, Engineer Liftery Ndaba, indicated that the Local Authority is actively engaging the CDF Committees to ensure the revision of pricing and quality assurance.

Engineer Ndaba also stated that the Council’s procurement unit has commenced the process of ensuring that the desks are delivered to schools on time and that the quality of the furniture reflects the costing.
He added that the Local Authority has already engaged suppliers whose workshops are ready to deliver 90% of the desks by December 2024.

Engineer Ndaba further urged the CDF Committees to always consider the inclusion of desks whenever planning to build classroom blocks.
