YEFI Hails World Bank’s K11.7 Million Investment in Irrigation Canals in Kawamba

Young Emerging Farmer Initiative (YEFI) says World Bank’s K11.7 million investment towards building permanent irrigation canals in Kawambwa district, will ensure that water is readily available for agriculture activities in the area.

Speaking in an interview with Money News, Organization Executive Director, Matthew Ntabo has since stressed the need to extend such programmes to other rich agriculture regions to increase agriculture production and enhance food security in the country.

Mr. states that a lot of areas across the country are in need of such initiatives due to the recent drought which affected millions of Zambians.

He has called on government to push the agenda of irrigation to discourage farmers from completely relying on rainfall for agriculture.
