OMCAZ Calls for Funding of Independent Institution to Oversee Petroleum Tender Processes
Oil Marketing Companies Association of Zambia (OMCAZ) has called for funding of an independent institution that will oversee the tender processes in the petroleum sub-sector.
Speaking in an interview with Money FM News, Association President Dr. Kafula Mubanga says the current model of responding to tender processes is not credible enough, stating that the use of Tanzania-Zambia Mafuta (TAZAMA) oil pipeline fuel tender processes can be biased as it is controlled by government.
Dr. Mubanga adds that government should show willingness in fostering transparency in the sector by allowing a private institution to run the operations of the fuel sector.
He says such a move will encourage competition in the petroleum subsector, and also lead to fair prices for the Zambians.
