Government Expert Calls For Prudent Utilization Of Donor Funds
A Governance Expert has called on government to prudently utilize the funds that it is receiving from donors in support of the 2025 National Budget, particularly the K1.8 billion European Union (EU) package.
Speaking in an interview with Money News, Sam Zulu says government should exercise accountability and transparency when utilizing the money.
Mr. Zulu notes that the resumption of European Union (EU) support towards Zambia’s national budget after a decade, means that the current regime has come up with better policies and good governance.
He states that the EU had stopped supporting Zambia’s budget due to bad governance in the previous regime, but has advised the current administration not to be excited about the development as this is only a test to see how accountable and transparent the government is.
European Union has resumed its Budget Support Programme for Zambia with the first payment of K1.8 billion package that will be transferred to the National Treasury between 2024 and 2026.
