Assocition Engages Police To Curb Increase In Attacks On Online Taxi Drivers
Online Taxi Drivers Association of Zambia says it has engaged law enforcement agencies such as the Zambia Police to help its members learn safe driving and self-defense.
Speaking in an interview with Money News, Association President Lucas Chanda says this follows the increase in the number of online taxi drivers who are being attacked by unscrupulous people.
Mr. Chanda reveals that about nine murder cases against online taxi drivers have been recorded so far this year and culprits have not yet been brought to book.
He states that in order for murder cases against online taxi drivers to reduce, the Association proposed that it should be a mandatory for every online taxi driver to have a Global Positioning System (GPS) tracker on their vehicles.
Mr. Chanda further says every online taxi operator should have a dash camera for easy monitoring of what is happening in the vehicle, adding that this system will be linked to the rapid response security company to react whenever the driver is in danger by pressing the panic button.
