Clergyman Calls on Government to Tighten Security Measures in Mining Sites to Reduce Illegal Mining Activities

A Clergyman has called on government to tighten security measures in some mining sites to reduce on the illegal mining activities, especially on the Copperbelt.


Pastor Charles Chileshya notes the continued loss of lives, with the recent one being at the Green Mountain in Kitwe, where five illegal miners were trapped.


He has stressed the need for Government to get concerned and expedite implementation of policies aimed at curbing illegal mining activities.

Meanwhile, Pastor Chileshya has commended Vedanta’s Konkola Copper Mine (KCM) for placing emphasis to their employees to prioritize safety measures as they work towards increasing copper production.
