We Want To Win Retain The Under-20 Championship

Zambia Under-20 midfielder David Simukonda is optimistic about the team’s chance of defending the COSAFA Under-20 Championship that has kickoff this afternoon in Mozambique.

The U20 COSAFA Championship will run until October 5 and serves as a qualifier for the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Young Chipolopolo Boys are in Group B alongside Angola and Namibia, following the withdrawal of Madagascar. The top team from across all three groups will qualify to the semifinals alongside the best-placed runner-up.

Speaking in an interview, Simukonda has declared the team ready for the tournament, stating that the target is to retain the COSAFA title.

“The team is ready to play at the COSAFA Championship. We need to win the tournament, and I’m sure we are going to win the tournament,” Simukonda said.

“We are ready to play our opponents at the tournament and get positive results over them. Our target is to win the tournament, and I’m urging my teammates to work together as a team.”

Zambia will open the tournament tomorrow against Namibia at 15:00.
